On Saturday, me and Martin celebrated our anniversary by going out for a few drinks and a lovely meal. It's hard to believe that we've been together for seven years already! We decided to go to Shears Yard, on recommendation of Martin's dad - but more on that another day. For now, here's what we wore!
My jacket is the same one that I wore in my last outfit; a replication that was unintended, but I'm sure you'll forgive me. The tshirt is one that I picked up from Matalan the week before, and when I was in store they had a "3 for 2" offer on. Now, we all know that this kind of offer is my weakness, so I ended up picking up two more in a different print/colour scheme. The skirt, annoyingly, is no longer available to buy online (Not sure about instore), which considering that I bought it not long ago is surprising. I spotted it in the catalogue and ordered it as soon as it was available. It's made out of a beautiful floaty, crepe-like material and actually consists of three layers. This makes it surprisingly weighty and the quality is unlike any other midi skirt in my collection. The shoes are really quite old now; just your basic black courts with a fairly low heel that I'm sure that you can pick up anywhere. As for the jewellery, I kept it fairly simple for the most part but went for a statement necklace. This was actually attached to a dress that I bought in the January sales, and whilst it is therefore a bit short, it served pretty well for this purpose. Sadly, however, a couple of the smaller "stones" have since come off!
The bag was sent to me from Sammydress, who got in touch with me a couple of months ago to ask whether I would like to review one of their products. Unfortunately, being a bit larger than average meant that the vast majority of the clothing was out of question for me (Shame, as they had a midi skirt that I would have killed for!), so I browsed through their accessories section. It's safe to say that by the time that I had finished, I had managed to compile quite the wishlist! In the end, I decided to choose this Chanel-esque bag and a necklace, which I will be reviewing at a later date.
With the company being based in Hong Kong, I had no idea what to expect in terms of the quality of the items that I was receiving and how long they would take to arrive. I was happy to find that with both of these elements, they exceeded my expectations - the parcel arrived within a week and both items are of excellent quality. The bag was a lot smaller than I was expecting - but, I neglected to take note of the sizing listed on the product page, so I have no one to blame but myself for that! Whilst a bit stiff, the outer looks pleasantly reminiscent of real leather, even if it doesn't feel like it, and features a twist clasp. The inner is beige in colour - I would have preferred black - and comes with a small inside pocket, although if I'm honest you couldn't fit a great deal in there! A stand out feature of the bag is the strap - made from a woven fabric and metal chain combination, it appears to be quite hard wearing and is actually quite heavy! It can be looped through the bag via a set of four holes on the top; doing so makes the strap into an across-body length, which is how I wore it, or doubled up to make it shorter, so it sits on the shoulder nicely. The strap clips together, and can even be removed from the bag entirely, turning it into a clutch bag. All in all, I'm very pleased with my little bag - it retains its shape perfectly, never sags or looks untidy in any way. Seeing as it goes with so much in my wardrobe, it's one that I will be using again and again!
