Seeing old university friends
This bank holiday Monday saw me and Martin catching up with two of our old university friends, who had come up to Leeds to visit. We hadn't seen them in about a year and a half, so our get-together was long overdue! We spent a good few hours finding out what had happened in that time, swapped stories and just had a good laugh together. Me and Martin took them to It Bar for some food (More on that below), which went down pretty well and then around a couple of pubs in the city centre for some drinks. It was really great to see them and we're hopeful that we're not going to leave it as long again for the next time!
Dorothy Perkins Textured Biker Jacket (£35 and currently available in store)
I bought this a few weeks ago, when I met up with some blogger friends for lunch. A lady came into where I work wearing it a few days previous and I had to ask her where it was from - I couldn't believe it when she said Dorothy Perkins and she'd bought it a few days before! It was out of stock online (and still is), so I went into the Trinity store to pick it up. I ended up needing to size down, surprisingly, and managed to get it for £28 with a discount code that I had. The shade is spot on for the summer season, it's light enough to throw on as an extra layer and the texture makes it look and feel more expensive than it is.
It Bar, Leeds
IT Bar is a place that me and Martin have been frequenting a lot in recent months, and I ended up going twice in one week this time around! Martin suggested that we eat there one Sunday evening, and we've never looked back since. Not only do they do great food - burgers, fried chicken and hot dogs just to name a few - but the atmosphere is great, they have good offers on both beers and cocktails, they're reasonably priced and the guys who work there are very chatty and friendly. What more can you want? Like mentioned above, we took our friends there last Monday and they loved it - a hidden gem in Leeds city centre!
Martin's winning burger combination
I always look forward to going to Martin's house for the weekend, as he always feeds me well (Just one of the many reasons why he is a great boyfriend haha)! He usually comes up with a great combination of food, that is nearly always bad for us but you know what, who cares? I eat relatively healthy food during the week, and the weekend is my time to indulge. Well, with this burger Martin plated up I was certainly doing that! It consisted of a pulled pork and chorizo patty, with a couple of slices of smoked Wensleydale cheese and a thick slice of black pudding on top. A bit of a strange combination but it worked so well.
Magnum Gold Ice Cream Bars
Again, with being at Martin's house, he brought out one of these for dessert and oh, my. I'd seen these advertised on TV but didn't pay too much attention to them; I mean, how many chocolate ice cream bars does one need? However, this one has not only got a funky gold coating - it looks metallic, it's bizarre - it's also salted caramel flavoured, which is one of my favourite flavours! They also do a silver champagne version that I'm not so keen on trying (It has champagne flavoured ice cream and I'm not a fan of the drink), but this is one that I'm going to be having a few times over the next couple of months!
A few days of sunny, warmer weather
Lastly for this week, is the start of our short summer approaching. We had a few nice days of sunshine the previous week, but after that it took a turn for the worse and poured it down for days on end. This week has seen an improvement in the weather, especially over the weekend and it's really been lifting my mood! Ok, I don't like going into town when the weather is nice because it's unbearable with so many people, but otherwise I like to enjoy it when I can. I'm hoping that there's going to be some nice weather for my birthday next weekend, so that I can have a barbecue with some friends - keep your fingers crossed!
