What I've been loving this week (#5)

June 08, 2014

HAIM - Days Are Gone
This album plays all the time at work and I really like it, and it's only recently that I've managed to find out what it is! I'd never heard of HAIM before, let alone this album and if I'd come across it any other way I wouldn't have given it a second glance. This band is slightly unusual because it consists of three sisters; Alana, Este and Danielle, who hail from America. This album is actually their first and it went straight to number one in the UK album charts. I enjoy this album as it's very easy to listen to and their style of music is quite unique to me, although it falls under the generic category of pop/soft rock.

My new hair cut
I know I've already mentioned this - yesterday, as a matter of fact - but I couldn't write this post and not mention my hair! My blog post explains it in more detail, but basically my hair was rather long and desperately in need of a change. I went to Allertons, a new salon/beauty store that's just opened in The Light, Leeds and my stylist Dean gave me the exact haircut I wanted. This was something in itself, as I swear hairdressers don't actually have ears as I've never been given what I wanted before! My hair feels so much lighter, easier to manage and quicker to dry - I now just leave it to air dry naturally. I love it!

My birthday
If you didn't already know, it was my birthday on Friday and I ended up having a rather nice day. I turned the grand old age of 24, and I spent the morning in York at the opening of the new Zatchels store (More on that below). I then came home and spent the rest of the day relaxing with Martin and getting a Chinese takeaway for dinner. I received some lovely presents from Martin and my family, including a gorgeous new bag from Next that I have used a couple of times already! I also got a pretty dress - which will be in an OOTD very soon - money to go towards driving lessons and lots of snacks and sweets to tide me over!

Zatchels store in York
Friday morning saw me meet up with Faith and Jenna, for a little road trip to York to attend the opening of the new Zatchels store in York. I was planning on getting the train but Faith very kindly offered me a lift with Jenna, and it ended up working out rather well, with the car journey being a right hoot! I'll be writing a blog post about the new store but it was fantastic - nothing like I had imagined, but all the better for it. We each received a goody bag, and none of us could believe it when we were offered to pick a colour/print of bag to take home! I absolutely adore my little bag and it was a real pleasure to see the new store too.
