What I've been loving this week (#6)

June 16, 2014

Cuddles with the dogs
The first half of this week (and the last half of the previous week) saw me looking after my dogs whilst my parents were away on holiday. I don't get to spend much time with my two dogs, Holly (pictured) and Zak, due to either being at work or at Martin's but I got to catch up on a few cuddles this time! It was not without its struggles - they're very demanding and get up to some right mischief - but I love them just the same and wouldn't change them for the world. Holly came and gave me a few cuddles this week, which is rare as she tends to not sit still for long! It was nice to snuggle up and relax with them for a little while.

Morrisons Mexican-Spiced Chipotle Chilli Coleslaw
I'd bought this to have with a potential barbecue for my birthday, but it ended up being a bit of a wash out! I'd actually completely forgotten about it - I'd bought it thinking that Martin might like it (He doesn't usually like coleslaw), but it was only after he'd gone that I found it at the back of the fridge. Oops! I had it with dinner for a few nights to use it up, and it was surprisingly tasty - and yes, Martin, if you're reading this, you would probably like it! It had a lot more crunch than the usual coleslaw and had the added kick with the chipotle, garlic and ginger. Not too spicy, but it would go wonderfully with some pulled pork!

EssieButton Vlogs: #VLUNE
Seeing as I had a lot of time to kill when it was only my dogs for company, I ended up watching a lot of Youtube videos. I was already a subscriber to EssieButton Vlogs and have always enjoyed watching what Estée, Aslan and Reggie get up to, but with their special "Vlune" (Vlog-June) series they've been keeping me hooked! They're vlogging every other day in June, and even though we're only halfway through the month there's been plenty to keep me entertained. I love Estée as a Youtuber; she's very down-to-earth, funny and adores her fans, all of which really come across in her videos. Keep it up Estée!

NEOM Happiness Candle
I can't remember if I've already mentioned this, but when I went to Allertons to get my hair cut, I bought myself this candle for my birthday (Blog post about Allertons coming soon, I promise, it's just taking longer to write than I thought it would!). Yes, it was expensive for a candle, but any beauty blogger worth their salt knows why these ones are special! They are amazing quality, and I would honestly say that they are worth every penny. The throw is incredible, the scent is divine (neroli, mimosa and lemon if you're wondering) and it burns very cleanly - no soot or smoke in sight. I can see me buying more in the future!

Matalan Silver & Pearl Flower Necklace
As mentioned in my Matalan haul post, I really wasn't sure about this necklace at first - so much that I took to Instagram and Twitter to ask whether I should keep it! Everyone who responded said "yes", and I'm so glad that they convinced me as I have fallen in love with it! I wore it a few days ago to see some work friends and I think it went really well with what I was wearing and helped jazz up an otherwise plain outfit. Admittedly, it doesn't go with the blue and red print you see above, which now I think about it probably explains why I initially thought it was a bit much! Now that I have it, I intend to be wearing it quite often.

Market Wraps' Pulled Pork Uncle Jack's Wrap
On Sunday, there was a market set up on Briggate in Leeds and I went for a bit of a wander around to kill some time. When I came across this stall, selling the most amazing smelling pulled pork wraps and subs, I had to try one for myself! I had the Jack Daniel's barbecue sauce on my wrap, which came with cheese and "MW" slaw and it was absolutely fantastic. The ratio of meat to slaw was spot on and the flavours worked together brilliantly. The guys running the stall were also really friendly and chatty too. As they say on their sign, "Street food at its best" and it is way up there with some of the best street food I've ever had!
