What I've been loving this week (#3)

May 18, 2014

Stephen Sutton/Stephen's Story
Ok, now this doesn't come under the phrase "What I've been loving", but this young man deserves a mention here this week. If you haven't previously heard of Stephen, he was a 19 year old diagnosed with incurable cancer in January 2013 (He had originally been diagnosed in 2010). Since then, he's raised over £3 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and was insistent on spreading as much positivity as possible despite his condition. Very sadly, Stephen passed away on Wednesday 14th May. What he managed to achieve throughout his short life is nothing short of astounding, and his legacy will live on for years to come. If you wish to donate to the TCT, text STEPHEN to 70300 to donate £5 or click this link.

High5 Zero Berry Flavour Tabs
A work colleague introduced these to me and they are what's been missing from my life! I've been looking for a no sugar, low calorie extra to add to plain water to spruce it up a bit, and make it more enjoyable to drink. Now, these don't come cheap (£6.99 I was told but maybe they're cheaper online?), but they work so well. Just pop one into your water, and they fizz up and flavour it - all without unnecessary sugar and whatever else is not so good for you. I had one in a 750ml bottle and it worked a treat! I really need to get hold of some for myself, as it would encourage me to drink more water - always a good thing, right?

Marvel Pyjama Pants (£8 and currently available)
These made an appearance on my blog already this week - link - but I had to feature them because they're amazing and just so comfortable! As mentioned in the post, these fit more like leggings than anything else, and honestly I wasn't sure whether I was going to like them. However, once I'd worn them for a couple of nights, they fast became my new favourite pyjama pants! They have cuffed hems, so don't ride up when I'm sleeping (A big pet peeve of mine unless it's really warm outside), they fit perfectly and they have a brilliant print to boot. Primark need to come out with some more pyjama pants in this style!

Roxy Lanes Cracked Pepper Chips
Me and Martin went to the all-new Roxy Lanes on Friday (Blog post coming within the week), and whilst it turned out we were there under false pretenses we still had a brilliant time. I was feeling quite angry about things, but I soon cheered up when we'd ordered some food and these were placed onto the table! If we'd known that the portions were going to be so big, we could have easily shared these. These were - hand on heart - some of the best chips I've ever had. Extra crispy and crunchy on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside, flavoured with black pepper and served with two delicious dips. My mouth's watering now...

VSCO Cam (Free on Google Play and App Store)
This is an app on my phone that Martin got me to download, and I've never looked back since. Basically, this app is a photo editor; allowing you to add an impressive range of sophisticated filters, and play with other effects (Such as exposure, grain and tint) to your hearts content. If you're an avid Instagrammer, you need this app in your life - it's the best one out there. They release new filters regularly that are much better than Instagram's own, and in themselves are customisable. The amount of post production you can do is staggering; I'm still getting to grips with it to be honest, and I use it all the time now!

Wharf Chambers, Leeds
This is mine and Martin's new regular for whiling away a Sunday afternoon in - and six months ago I had never stepped foot in the place! Wharf Chambers is one of those bars that's hidden away and not really promoted as such; we found out about it through a friend I believe. It's got some local character that is hard to find nowadays, and the way they do things is very traditional (Think English pub and you're not far off), which leads to a cosy and welcoming atmosphere. You do have to be a member - or a guest of a member - to drink there, but it's only £1 for a year and the drink selection is excellent and very cheap.
