As part of my 2014 blogging resolutions, I said that I wanted to write more lifestyle posts. Well, it might be a couple of months down the line now but I'm eventually giving it a go! This past weekend was a good one to start off with, as Martin's parents took us to Wakefield for the day. Usually, I imagine there's not that much to look at but in The Hepworth, there was an exhibition on Philip-Lorca DiCorcia - a photographer that both me and Martin studied during our time at college. A chance to see some of his work up close was too good an opportunity to pass up! We spent a couple of hours there and the exhibition was fantastic. Of course, there was a permanent selection of Barbara Hepworth's work too. We had a light lunch in the cafe within the gallery, which consisted of spiced sweet potato soup, hot chocolate and a slice of red velvet cake to share - all absolutely delicious!

Next, we ventured across to the Wakefield Festival of Food, Drink & Rhubarb which I had never been to before. There wasn't as much rhubarb as I expected considering the name, but there was a good selection of food and drink that contained the vegetable, including fudge, non-alcoholic beer and pies. Me and Martin don't like rhubarb at all, so we took advantage of trying out all the other amazing food and drink on offer - including a chilli chocolate vodka! We wandered off the beaten track a bit and had a little look around the shops, where I picked up some more nail polish (Yes... I know) and we had some churros from Deli Churros. After that, it was a quick stop to pick up some mulled cider and a small bottle of blackcurrant vodka and then home to devour our goodies.

What did you think of this post? I'll be putting another one up tomorrow for Sunday - please let me know if you enjoyed this post and seeing what I get up to!
