All Used Up #12

February 04, 2014

I seem to be accumulating empty products faster than ever nowadays, it seems like the drawer that is designated for these things is never empty! This is good though, as it means I'm clearing away the old to make way for the new - and with some products, I was glad to see the back of them to tell you the truth! It's all a bit of a mixed bag this time, with some full sized products and some samples too.

Lemongrass House Blue Chamomile Conditioner*
This was unintentionally the first product from the Lemongrass House event that I finished up; I had run out of conditioner and ended up using this. Before I knew it, I had finished it all! It smelt absolutely gorgeous, and left my hair feeling nourished and soft without weighing it down.

Vichy Laboratories Eau Thermale
If I remember rightly, I got this in a JolieBox many months ago and it annoys the heck out of me. Why? Because it's a bottle of water. You look at the ingredients - the only one listed is 'Aqua (Eau)'. This claimed to have all sorts of benefits for the skin and I didn't see one of them. Big waste of money!
Repurchase? No.

Burt's Bees Baby Bee Dusting Powder
I really enjoyed using this! It smelt lovely and did a great job at leaving my skin feeling fresh and comfortable. The only niggle that I have is the price point - I know that it's 100% natural and talc free, but in competition with regular talc powders they offer much better value for money.
Repurchase? Maybe.

Jimmy Choo Flash
This was actually given to me by Martin - it was very nearly empty, he wanted the bottle for some project of his! However, having tried this perfume many times I can tell you that whilst it smells sweet, floral and fruity - right up my street - it has no lasting power at all on me. Big disappointment.

TRESemme Split Remedy Intensive Recovery Masque
I wrote a review about this product nearly two years ago - yes, I've really had it that long! It got put to the bottom of a drawer and forgotten about. Despite continued use, I saw no improvement in my split ends - however, it did leave my hair feeling smooth and manageable until I washed my hair again.

Logona Organic Rose Day Cream (Dry Skin)*
I wasn't expecting much from this sample, but I was pleasantly surprised. Whilst it was too heavy for my oily T-Zone, it did a wonderful job of moisturising my dry patches without leaving a greasy residue. I wasn't a fan of the scent, but this faded as soon as it sunk into the skin so it wasn't a big deal.
Repurchase? Probably not.

Sante Day Cream (Dry Skin)*
Again, like the previous this was quite nice and unexpectedly so. The scent was much more pleasant and felt very hydrating and soothing. This was a lot runnier than Logona's, which meant a little went a lot further than I thought but in turn, would offer good value for money at full size. All natural ingredients too!
Repurchase? Probably not.

Crystal Clear Skincare No Shine Serum*
I had this sat in a drawer for the longest time - I believe it came in a set of three little miniatures. This smelt like oranges, which was a big surprise but was very bearable nonetheless. This sank into my skin quickly and left no residue behind, but I felt no benefit to my skin whatsoever unfortunately.

Blend Collective Concentrated Hand Cream*
This is a very thick hand cream - one for using at night, not during the day. Infused with Sandalwood, Frankincense, Cedarwood and Neroli, this notes hit my nose instantly as soon as I unscrewed the little pot. I liked this product; it was rich and soothing, and an excellent hand cream for winter.
Repurchase? Probably not.

REN Hydra-Calm Cleansing Milk
I so wanted this to be the cleansing milk for me - it seemed perfect for my needs and my skin type. Whilst it did work well, it did leave my skin feeling a little tight after rinsing off, which surprised me. It also lasted for an incredibly short amount of time - I used it up in about two weeks! The search continues...

Treacle Moon One Ginger Morning Bath & Shower Gel
I bought this on a whim at Tesco a few months ago, and I think it proved to be popular in my house as it was gone in a flash! The scent was incredibly uplifting and zesty, with citrus and ginger being immediately recognisable. I thoroughly enjoyed using this every morning and I think Martin liked it too!

Soap & Glory The Breakfast Scrub
If you haven't smelt this product before, I urge you to go give it a sniff when you see it - my oh my, this scrub smells absolutely divine. Imagine maple syrup, sugar and oats and you're pretty much there. Not only that, it was a fantastic scrub too - not too rough or too smooth. Holy grail for sure!
Repurchase? Yes.

Neal & Wolf Daily Cleansing Shampoo*
I didn't want this shampoo to become a staple product for me, because of its price. It's far more than I'm willing to pay on a shampoo when there's such good alternatives on the high street. This was an excellent shampoo; it left my hair feeling clean and not stripped, but it was lacking that special something.

In Situ Cosmetics Refreshing Facial Tissue*
This was a bit of a funny one; I received it at a blogger meet up, but I can't remember which one. It was basically a damp wipe, that I used once on my face to refresh myself a bit and that was that. It felt quite cooling, but left my skin feeling a bit dry - as wipes often do with me. Nothing special here.

Logona Bio Sea Buckthorn Eye Cream*
Being in the market for getting a new eye cream, I was quite pleased to receive this to try out. Despite being aimed for a more mature market, I did enjoy using this sample. It was thick but not too rich, but did take a while to sink in. My eye area felt moisturised but I saw no long term results sadly.

Sante 24H Balance Creme (Combination Skin)*
The last of the facial moisturisers that I tried out recently was this one, and to be honest it was neither here nor there for me. It did a good job of moisturising my skin, but it didn't seem to balance my oily T-Zone and dry patches like I'd hoped. Perhaps with a larger sample I would have seen better results.
Repurchase? No.

The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Hair Butter
I have already mentioned this in a "All Used Up" post, and gave it a negative review. This was partly down to the size of the sachet - it was far too small. With this tub, I was able to enjoy the benefits and was surprised to find that I really liked it. It smelt lovely and left my hair feeling deeply nourished.
