Review: MUA Professional Trio Eyeshadow in Innocence

April 24, 2012

Say what you like about cheap make up, but this brand certainly are an exception to the rule! Generally, cheap make up tends to be just that - cheap, bad quality and ultimately a waste of money. Not so with Make Up Academy! I am a huge fan of their range and for very good reason. They sell a wide range of make up for dirt cheap prices, deliver quality products, are usually advertising very good offers and give great customer service. All above and beyond what you'd expect to get for your few pounds.

Onto the product! This is part of their range of trio baked eyeshadows, of which there are currently seven. All of their trio eyeshadows are created to either wear on their own, or blended together in a variety of ways. On the reverse of the packaging they even demonstrate a way to use all three eyeshadows together, which is a thoughtful touch - particularly if you're new to make up and are not sure how to use multiple eyshadows in one look!

This particular trio, Innocence, is a combination of natural brown/gold toned shades which are perfect for both daytime and evening wear. The darkest of the shades is what made me purchase this, it is the most unusual colour I've seen in a while - brown with a metallic green flash, almost duochrome! They all are shimmery in appearance but not overly so - you could blend them well for a muted look or pack them on for a more metallic, dramatic look. The neutral shades mean that they should suit almost anyone.

The pigmentation of these really are excellent - definitely not comparable to the price! Cheap eyeshadows tend to be poorly pigmented and I'm very pleased to report that the opposite is the case here. The formula is fairly sturdy, yet buttery soft to the touch. There seems to be a little fallout but no worse than usual, and this decreases when used on top of a primer.

Final verdict: A high quality set of eyeshadows that compliment each other beautifully, take you from day through to night and last well with little fading. Definitely worth trying out for the price!

MUA Professional Trio Eyeshadows are available for £2.50 from selected Superdrug stores selling their "Professional" line; a list of stores can be found here.
