Makeup Revolution Haul March 2015

Do you remember my Wednesday Wishlist post from the week before last? Well, about a week after I published that post, a discount code for Makeup Revolution popped into my inbox - it was perfect timing! The code (sadly no longer available) was £5 off £25, which combined with the free delivery when you spend £25 was enough of an incentive to finally place my first order. I own a small handful of products from Makeup Revolution, mostly from blogger events, but this was the first time I had bought anything from the brand myself. I'm so excited to finally be giving their products a go after hearing so much about them - this haul has been long, long overdue. Anyway, enough wittering - let's get onto what I bought!

Makeup Revolution Highlight Highlighting Powder Palette

Highlight Highlighting Powder Palette, £8.00
If you remember from my wishlist, I said that I couldn't decide between this and the Radiance palette. In the end I went for this one because I will actually use all three shades, whereas I knew I wouldn't use the bronze shade in the other palette. These are beautiful in real life, with very intense pigment payoff. I like that they're shimmer in finish instead of full-on glitter, which is all too easily done with highlighters.

Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes 2 Eyeshadow Palette
Essential Mattes 2 Eyeshadow Palette, £4.00
I was looking for some more matte eyeshadows to add to my collection, and thanks to this palette I now have twelve more! What drew me to this palette was the neutral shade selection, and how well they work with each other. The shade spectrum goes from light through to dark, making this easy to create a multitude of looks with. Considering that this is only £4.00, this offers fantastic value for money!

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette
Iconic Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette, £6.99
It was originally the Iconic Pro 1 palette that caught my eye, having read so many positive reviews about it. However, when I compared this palette to the Iconic Pro 1, I actually prefer the shade selection that this one offers. There's a few, such as the matte blue and gold/green shimmer, that I didn't previously have in my collection. The fact that it comes with a proper brush too was just the icing on the cake!

Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush and Contour Palette in Sugar and Spice
Ultra Blush and Contour Palette in Sugar and Spice, £6.00
Can you believe that I only have two pink blushers in my collection? For some reason, I seem to own mostly coral shades! That is now solved with this palette - which is very pink indeed. There is actually a coral shade, but I love the variety of shades and finishes that this palette offers. From inital swatches, this appears to be very well pigmented - I think that a light hand will be needed when I apply these!

Makeup Revolution Brow Dual Ultra Brow Arch & Shape in Medium
Brow Dual Ultra Brow Arch & Shape in Medium, £3.50
I'm so excited for this product! From what I've read about this online, this is a good dupe for Soap & Glory's Archery. If it is, then I will end up saving myself a lot of money in the long run as this is about a third of the price! When I opened the product, I did notice that the felt tip end felt a lot firmer compared to its counterpart, and the pencil is more pigmented too. Hopefully these will work in my favour.

Makeup Revolution Lip Lava in Tremor
Lip Lava in Tremor, £2.99
Lip products are my weakness - I have a drawer overflowing with them and there are probably some that I haven't got around to using yet. This doesn't stop me from buying more, however! I love liquid lipsticks, as they tend to be easier to apply and last longer than your traditional bullets, often drying down to a matte finish. I picked up this neutral pink shade, as I thought that it might be an good every day colour.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Velour Lip Cream in Not One For Playing Games
Ultra Velour Lip Cream in Not One For Playing Games, £3.00
This actually surprised me when I opened the package, as the shade was not very much what I expected it to be! It's much brighter than it appeared online, and leans a lot more purple too. I wore this to work yesterday, and it's a very unusual shade; it's unlike anything else I have in my collection. However, the finish is exactly what I expected it to be - matte, yet comfortable to wear and very long lasting too.

Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Oil Control Makeup Fixing Spray
Pro Fix Oil Control Makeup Fixing Spray, £5.00
This product has been making the rounds on blogs recently, and me being one who is willing to try anything to combat oily skin, it was the first item to be added to my basket. However, now that I have the product, I'm not sure about it. When sprayed, there is a strong smell of alcohol, and sure enough Alcohol Denat is the second ingredient on the list. I'll see how it fares on my sensitive skin and report back!

  2. There's so many pallettes and sets out there now competing for the limelight of the best in a drugstore but I think the revolution palettes put up a pretty strong fight, I have 2 and they are great. They're very good urban decay Naked dupes. I'm a Leeds blogger too... You might find some of my posts useful/ interesting. -Ioana x
