You may remember quite a while ago, I put up part one of this review and said I would write part two the next week. Well, safe to say I completely forgot about it - I'm such a bad blogger! Better late than never though, so three months and one day later here is the second part of the review for Washi!'s Skin Polishing Kit from the Leeds Blogger Meet Up!
As I mentioned in the first part of this review, this little kit was long sought after by me and I was more than a little bit thrilled to receive it in the goody bag. The kit contains four hot cloths and a skin polishing towel, and the extra product that Washi! wanted us to try were some spiral cotton buds - which I have to admit was not what I was expecting! More on those in a short while, but first I want to tell you guys about the towel. First and foremost, I now use it every single day without fail... it even came on holiday with me so you should be getting a good idea about how much I like this product. Washi! claim that this is no ordinary towel - you are meant to use it to polish and exfoliate your skin. The best way to do this is to wet your face, gather up a corner of the towel, and use it to gently buff away any dead skin. I use this immediately after I have cleansed my face, so my skin is still wet - it was very easy to incorporate into my daily routine as I was drying my face anyway! Afterwards my skin feels a little bit softer and generally well looked after. The towel is a good size - more than big enough to cover your entire face with should you so wish. The texture is quite rough but not overly so; and I can say after 3 months of using it (and having it washed) every day the texture has held up very well.
Now onto these spiral buds... these I was not expecting! In all honesty there's not too much to say about these - they are your average cotton buds, but with a spiraled texture which I would imagine makes it easier to grip whatever you're sticking them into. The only thing I use cotton buds for nowadays is to clean out my ears (Not advisable by doctors but hey), and without going into too much detail they do a very good job. I wouldn't say that they would be worth spending any extra money on if you were only using them for that purpose, but they are a neat idea nonetheless. I did however also try using them to apply some eyeshadow, just to see how well they pick up the product. Having a textured surface does make it a lot easier to pick up a large amount of product, and if you were desperate or just in a bit of a rush you could probably make do with using these. Again though, I don't think they're worth buying especially for a purpose, at the end of the day a cotton bud is a cotton bud! I applaud Washi! for giving them a go and you never know, they could be exactly what someone could be looking for.
All in all, the skin polishing kit did not disappoint; I was very impressed with the quality of the hot cloths and the towel. They appear to be durable and will hopefully last me for years to come - especially with the kit including four hot cloths! The company have also put a lot of effort into the design of their packaging and it shows - I would definitely notice these on a shelf next to all the flannels in somewhere like Boots or in a supermarket. The kit is also very reasonably priced for such quality products and I would not hesitate to buy one of these kits with my own money in the future!
Final verdict: Anyone who is into skincare I think would appreciate having the towel as part of their regime - it makes a surprisingly big difference for little extra effort. The cotton buds are a neat idea but are sadly not worth it for me!
