Essential Daily Face Make Up Products

We all have those make up products, that we religiously apply daily and never get a look-in on our blogs. I know I'm certainly guilty of that! My make up routine is pretty much the same most days; I don't have much time for playing around with make up during the week, and save that kind of thing for weekends. I have my products that I know and love, and that I can rely upon to get me through a full day at work. Call them unsung heroes, if you will! Here's what I reach for on an almost daily basis...

YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation This has been my go-to base for several months now, even throughout the winter, and I'm just about to finish my first tube. I would never have tried this foundation if it wasn't for a YSL demonstration in Leeds that I went to last year! This is a gorgeous, lightweight foundation with light-medium buildable coverage. It lets your natural complexion shine through, but manages to even out skin tone, reduce redness and create a "lit from within" glow.

Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint and Pencil An absolute must for me every single day (If I'm leaving the house, that is) is my eyebrows - they're non-negotiable. If they're not on, I'm not out! I've used this clever duo for well over a year, and I truly couldn't be without it. The pencil helps me to fill in the missing sections of my brows, and the tint provides an even, all over colour. I now use the shade "Love is Blonde" seeing as my hair is a little lighter than it used to be, and this is the perfect taupe, neutral shade for me.

Oriflame Very Me Extendalash Mascara* If you've been following my blog for a while, then you'll know that I've had this mascara for a shamefully long time - far longer than I'll care to admit. Other mascaras in my collection come and go, but this one always stays. The wand is perfect for me; short plastic bristles that grab onto every lash, offering amazing length and buildable volume in one. It also works great on my bottom lashes! It never smudges or flakes, and that is pretty impressive for me and my watery eyes.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer This is a product that I keep falling in and out of love with. The under eye concealer (The salmon tone) is great if used sparingly, and only used on the worst dark patches around my eyes - any more and it looks cakey. The yellow-toned concealer works brilliantly well on my redness, but unfortunately is next to useless on blemishes. The winning part of this for me is the powder; I use it every day underneath my eyes to set my concealer, and it stays put all day without looking powdery or drying.

Soap & Glory Solar Powder Despite the fact that this bronzer has seen very regular use from me for about a year, I've barely made a dent in the product - I swear that this is going to last me forever! This bronzer is made up of two blendable segments; a darker, matte formula and a lighter, shimmery formula and when combined, they leave such a beautiful finish on the skin. It negates the need for a separate highlighter, saving me precious time in the morning! The shade is also just right, neither too muddy nor too orange.

Benefit The Porefessional Primer The oily skin around my nose is slowly improving (Watch this space), but it is not quite there yet so I still heavily rely on this to provide a smooth surface and to help keep that shine at bay. Being silicone-based, it can feel a bit heavy if I apply too much, but otherwise I really can't fault this primer. It almost completely covers the blackheads and large pores on my nose - sorry for that mental image - and most of the time, make up sits well on top of it and makes it last longer.

Clinique Airbrush Concealer I try not to apply too much concealer around my eyes, even when they desperately need it due to the texture of the skin there. Basically, it looks like I have plucked chicken's skin under my eyes (See here), and any concealer put on top of that accentuates the texture. This concealer is the only one that I've found that doesn't, and it offers just enough coverage for me to get away with on a daily basis. It offers a subtle highlight as well, drawing attention away from those pesky dark shadows!

Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer This was packaged with my Porefessional primer when I bought it at the back end of last year, and it's now applied daily on my cheeks before I apply my foundation. It offers a natural, dewy finish to the skin and even looks nice on its own - it goes some way in evening out skin tone, which I wasn't expecting but now rely upon! This always feels lightweight and never heavy on my skin, and it sinks in very quickly, meaning that I'm wasting no time before applying my foundation on top.

Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder The last Soap & Glory product for this post is my blotting powder - and whilst this particular one is not the best one I've ever tried, it's what I've been using every day for quite some time. It does quite well at blotting and keeping the shine away for a couple of hours, but the shade is too light for me and touching up throughout the day leaves it looking cakey and unnatural. I now try and keep using it for touch ups to a minimum and just use it first thing in the morning instead.

Crazy Rumors Gingerbread Lip Balm Last but not least is my favourite lip balm - and it took me so long to find! I wanted one in a twist-up stick format, made with natural ingredients (Read: No petroleum) and smelled/tasted nice. This manages to tick every one of those boxes and it now goes with me in my handbag everywhere I go. It provides a great base for lipstick and on its own provides a glossy finish, whilst providing a boost of hydration and moisture to my lips. It tastes and smells amazing too!

  1. I ADORE the YSL foundation, I'm on my second bottle (a first for me & foundations) & I'm still totally in love. You should get a sample of the serum foundation (fancy black bottle), it has a similar formula but a little bit more coverage...sets a little bit more as well which really makes a difference on oily days.

    1. I love it too! But I'm getting the itch to try something new now... must be the beauty
blogger in me, what can I say ;) The serum foundation looks good, I've tried the
actual serum and loved it, so I should love the foundation too! More coverage and
better staying power sounds like a winner in my book! xx
