JolieBox May 2012

May 21, 2012

It's the time that a lot of beauty fanatics look forward to - beauty box time! I received mine over the weekend and immediately delved into the box to find out what I got! I managed to avoid being spoiled (had a couple of close calls though) so it was full of lovely surprises. Click the link to find out what is in this month's JolieBox!

This has been my third month of being subscribed to JolieBox, and can honestly say that I've never been short of impressed with each box and the service received. It always arrives in good time - usually a couple of days after I get the dispatch email - and is thoughtfully packaged and presented.

A nice little touch in the recent months is the JolieMag, which once again seems to be thoughtfully put together and held my attention for a good little while! I really like the idea of finding out more about the people behind the box and articles on beauty products are always interesting to read. Not to mention the beautiful photography and design, there's some seriously talented people behind this mag!

This month's box was "In Bloom", featuring organic and plant-based products to use as we approach summer and leave spring behind us. I really do like the idea of having a theme for each box, it shows that they've actually put some thought into the products being put into the box instead of just having a few odd choices.

There was four products this time around: A full size China Glaze nail polish, Essential Care Organic Rose Moisturiser, RMK Make Up Base and Talika Eye Therapy patch. Some people might complain at the four products instead of five, but I'd much prefer to have four products I'd actually want to use rather than five body moisturisers and shower gels!

I have to admit that this puzzled me when I first pulled it out of the box, but it is actually very simple. This is an eye patch that you place on the skin under your eyes, and it claims to smooth out wrinkles, reduce eye bags and dark circles in one product. I've never seen anything like this before and I'm really looking forward to using it, I have quite significant dark circles under my eyes that could use all the help they can get!

After last month's disappointment at the facial moisturiser, this looks a bit more promising! This apparently is for all skin types, and is free from any "nasties" such as parabens and preservatives. I can't say to be quite honest that these sort of things bother me, but this moisturiser looks like it's good quality and will be tested out in place of my current moisturiser.

This is a product that intrigued me as soon as I saw it; at first I thought it was a bottle of nail polish! After closer inspection though it is a neat little product from RMK, a brand I've heard quite a lot about. This make up base is a primer as far as I can tell, smoothing the skin and reducing blemishes, ready for you to apply foundation over the top. It appears to be colourless once applied to the skin, so I'm not sure how it's doing the above, but I'm desperate to give this a go and see if this brand is as good as so many people say!

My favourite product I've saved for last, this caught my eye straight away - I couldn't believe that a full size bottle of China Glaze was in there! I got the shade "Love Marilyn", which is a densely packed red and silver glitter in a relatively clear base. After having a browse through other blogs mentioning this particular box, it seems like there's a massive choice in what you could have received, ranging from lilac cremes to burgundy shimmers. I love the shade that I received, it's nothing like I've ever owned before. My only grumble is that it immediately reminds me of Christmas, which is not so good in a Spring/Summer box! However I will definitely be trying it out before then and I can't wait to do so!

Overall I'm very pleased with this month's box, and every single product is one that I will use. There's a nice mix of new brands (to me, at least) and old favourites - a top box all round!

You can sign up to JolieBox via their website, and it costs £12.95 for one box per month.
