I'm very late with my review of December's JolieBox I realise... what can I say, a small thing called Christmas got in the way! Still, better late than never I suppose and this month was sure to be a little bit more special than usual to celebrate the festive month. So click the link below to find out what was in (now) last month's JolieBox!
As expected, this month's JolieBox was a bit different to usual. There was a specially designed box for the occasion, with an extra tidbit inside that allowed you to repurpose the box as a subscription gift for someone else. Quite a nice touch and would have made a nice last-minute gift for someone I'm sure!
I think I'm right in thinking that this month was the first box to show JolieBox's changes to merge with Birchbox, with the label now including "A Birchbox company" underneath. Although in all honesty it could have said that on November's box and I would have been none the wiser! In this month's box we have been spoilt with seven (or eight, depending on how you look at it) products, which are Natural Honey Body Milk, I Love... Strawberries & Milkshake lipgloss, Doctor Duve Hand & Decollete Cream, Bellapierre Cosmetics Shimmer Powder in Reddish, Agua De Colonia Concentrada Cologne by Alvarez Gomez, Color Club 'Put A Pin In It' Nail Polish, Olay Regenerist Skin Cream and two bars of Lindt chocolate!
I have never heard of this brand before, this must be another French offering from JolieBox! I have to admit that I hate the packaging, it looks very dated and would probably look right at home on my grandma's dressing table. That being said it does smell divine and the small amount that I have tested sinks in well and does the job, so I imagine I will get along with it just fine.
This brand has featured in JolieBox in the past, and I'm not sure how I feel about brands being repeated in boxes. You could argue that it would have to happen sooner or later but I'd rather it be much later than just a couple of months! This is a pretty fail-safe colour that would suit almost anyone. It does smell a bit sweet for my liking but it is meant for your lips, not for smelling!
Another hand cream, I didn't get along with November's offering and I don't think I'll get along with this one either! To be honest I think creams such as these are an easy option for beauty boxes and make an all too regular appearance... I think they need to use a bit of imagination as I think we're all set for creams now! I'm not keen on sachets either, it's either a tube or nothing I reckon.
This gave me a bit of a shock when I turned the tub over... I was not expecting such a bright colour! I tend to stay away from pinks and reds because I don't trust that I won't be able to avoid making myself look like I've been on something. Therefore I won't I'll be trying this, that and I don't tend to use loose eyeshadows as I just make a mess! It's a shame because I would've given it a go in a different shade.
This is one that intrigued both me and Martin as it is apparently a unisex scent. I have seen this before and I love the design, it's Spanish roots are clear and it has obviously changed very little since the perfume was created around 100 years ago. It smells very fresh, citrusy and really quite pleasant - we'll have to decide who's going to be using it up as we both quite like it!
I for one love it when a nail polish makes its way into a beauty box and this one is no exception! There were two shades created for JolieBox, inspired by social media (namely Pinterest and Instagram). It does look to be a similar shade to my bottle of Pink Fizz by Models Own, but it is a very different consistency - shimmer instead of chunky glitter. Therefore it has a place in my ever-growing collection!
A third and final cream from JolieBox and yet another one that I'm unimpressed with. The fact that the packaging is in another language makes it impossible for most to understand exactly what it is, but after reading others reviews I've gathered that it is an anti-aging cream of some sort. This is obviously aimed for more mature skin than mine, so I can't see me getting much use out of this!
Last and not least are two chocolate bars as an extra little gift. Martin gobbled his bar straight away and I unwillingly kept mine to photograph! (Aren't I a dutiful blogger?) Not much to say about chocolate really, but Martin says it's nice so I'll go eat mine now!
I'm sort of torn with this month's box. Some of the products I really dislike - or at least dislike the idea of, such as the Olay cream - and others I'm really pleased to have received, such as the nail polish. JolieBox have come up trumps by offering us more samples than usual, which is nice to see and they have also gone to a lot of effort with their packaging design this month - again, something I appreciate. Unfortunately it doesn't really compare to last December's box, which was a GlossyBox and was definitely up there with the best boxes I've ever received. That being said, this December's GlossyBox doesn't look much better than JolieBox's so there we are!
You can sign up to JolieBox via their website, and it costs £12.95 for one box per month.

The only thing I'm in love with here is that gorgeous red eyeshadow! Such a pity you're not a fan :( I've been tempted to try a beauty box subscription but to be honest none have really wowed me yet. Still hoping :) Haha x
ReplyDeleteReally?! Well if I don't end up giving it a try over the next few months you can have it if you want it! To be honest I'm starting to enjoy beauty boxes less and less, I think the hype has massively died down now! But we'll see xx
