China Glaze All Aboard Choo-Choo-Choose You nail polish swatch review photo

When was the last time I wrote about some nail polish? It's definitely been several months, I can tell you that. I used to have a post of this nature up every couple of weeks or so! Anyway, let's get on with it. A couple of months ago, www.nailpolish.co.uk got in contact with me and asked whether I would like to try a couple of nail polishes for me to review. I had never heard of the website before, and to be fair if I ever buy nail polish online, it is usually from Fragrance Direct. However, the problem with that is that you can't buy new nail polishes from there, and anything new I had to trek to Boots or Superdrug to find. With 1,000 nail polish colours in stock, I was a little spoilt for choice!

www.nailpolish co.uk stock a wide variety of different brands, from Sally Hansen to Tanya Burr, and all at reasonable prices. They also offer free 1st class delivery on every order, so no matter how few or how many you buy, you know that you don't have to pay any extra for delivery. When I saw that they stocked the latest ranges from China Glaze, a brand that is near impossible to find in shops here in the UK, I couldn't resist giving them a go. I chose two shades from their Autumn collection, "All Aboard"; "Choo-Choo Choose You"* and "All Aboard"*, £4.95 each (Yes, the range name and the polish names are the same, just to be confusing!) I'd seen several reviews on "Choo-Choo Choose You" in particular, and was thrilled the be given the chance to try it out along with a complementing shade.

First up is "All Aboard", and what I am currently wearing on my nails. Having never tried China Glaze polishes before but having read plenty about them, I had high expectations of them. I was a little surprised to find with both bottles of polish that the brushes are very thin - I assumed that they would be a bit wider. However, once I started using them it wasn't too bad and I was able to work with them without too many mishaps. This shade is a blue based purple creme; think Cadbury's purple and you're not far wrong. This appears to be lighter in the bottle and I was surprised to find that it applied a couple of shades darker. I applied two coats here, but I think it could have benefitted with three for a perfect finish; some nails show some slight streaks after application. I did find that this did take a longer time than usual to dry and needed a helping hand, which was disappointing. However, the wear time of this is pretty fantastic - I've worn this for three days now and there is only slight chipping on two of the fingers on my right hand, with the rest of the nails appearing to be pretty much perfect. The resulting finish of this was not as glossy as I had hoped, but nothing that couldn't be solved without a slick of top coat.

As for "Choo-Choo Choose You"... where do I begin? This shade is absolutely stunning. Other bloggers who post pictures of their nails, you will understand my pain because this was an absolute bugger to photograph! I tried every angle and light source available to try and show it to you guys as best as I could, and this was the best I could manage. Rest assured, that in real life, this is a beautiful, multi-dimensional polish. In some lights it appears smoky grey, and in others it flashes green, gold, purple and turquoise. This is a very fine, shimmer based polish that I have worn on its own here, but you could apply a coat over another polish for a unique twist to a regular manicure. This worried me at first, because when I applied my first coat it was very watery - almost no colour at all, which made me wonder whether this was meant to just be a top coat. However, a second coat was all that was needed to even everything out and reach full opacity, which really astonished me. The drying time and finish was similar to "All Aboard", and the lasting power was equally as impressive; I'm curious to see whether this rings true across the entirety of the China Glaze range or whether it's unique to ones from this collection.
