All Used Up #10 (Samples Edition)

October 22, 2013

It's been several months since I last wrote one of these posts, and since than I seem to have acquired enough samples to put some beauty counters to shame! I decided after the Leeds Meet Up that I would make an active effort to use my samples up, allowing me to give mini reviews of all the products I received. Next week I have an installment of full-sized items to show you but for now, let's see what samples I've been using up recently.

Logona samples sachets*
I received these at the Leeds Meet Up, and from what I can tell the it is a German organic cosmetics brand. Despite the pamphlets that came with the sachets not having a word of English in sight, they do sell in the UK and have a website here. I had a impressively wide range of samples to try!

Age Protection Day Cream - I suspected that this would be too heavy for me to use during the day, and I was right. I ended up using it at night and it was still too rich for my skin - quite oily and never seemed to sink in fully. Definitely aimed at the more mature market.

Organic Witch Hazel Night Cream (Combination Skin) - This and the next one seemed to be most suited to my skin type and what I was looking forward to trying. The scent was surprising, quite sweet and not overpowering at all. This was just the right consistency for me.

Organic Witch Hazel Day Cream (Combination Skin) - I put this to the test by using it all over my face, whereas I usually have a specific cream for my nose and this performed pretty well considering that my hopes weren't high. This was light and hydrating, I would consider buying this again.

Clear Skin Moisture Fluid Organic Mint (Oily Skin) - This was intriguing, I'd never seen mint used in a moisturiser before so I was curious to see how it would perform on my t-zone. I was very impressed, it sank in quickly and kept me relatively shine-free. Another one I would buy again!

Organic Rose Night Cream (Dry Skin) - Again, I suspected that this would be too rich but I was surprised with this one. I wasn't a massive fan of the scent but it was quite nice as a night cream, not too heavy and moisturised the dry, dehydrated patches on my cheeks really quite well.

Organic Aloe Day Cream (Sensitive skin) - Due to the amount of redness I get on my cheeks and jawline, I wanted to see if this would help improve the appearance of such. Obviously I only got a small samples but it seem to help sooth and calm down the skin - although the effect was temporary.

Sante shower gels - Grenadine Spirit, Goji Power and Coconut Dream*
Next up are these sachets from Sante, another German company only this time they use natural ingredients in their products. There's not too much that I can say about them, because at the end of the day they're shower gels but I did like them on the whole. I thought the Grenadine Spirit scent would be my favourite but I was disappointed to find that it didn't smell of anything. My unexpected favourite turned out to be Coconut Dream, which weirdly didn't smell like coconut at all! These foamed up nicely and a little went a long way - but I have to admit that they're not anything special.

REN Active 7 Radiant Eye Gel
If I remember rightly I got this free with a magazine (I think it might have been Red) along with a hand and face cream. This was only a tiny tube but it lasted me for months. It was very similar to the Anatomicals Eye Gel I reviewed recently - nice and refreshing but sadly, no permanent effects.

Crystal Clear Skincare Deep Cleanse Gel*
I know I got this from a blogger event but honestly can't remember which one! This and the other items in the set were hidden for quite some time. I didn't like this at all, it didn't remove my make up and left my skin feeling tight and dry. However, it smelt amazing, just like oranges!

Benefit's The Porefessional
Another magazine sample I believe, this time from Glamour and I, along with everyone else has fallen in love with it. It's the only primer I've ever found to actually help stop the oil from breaking down my make up on my nose and it lasts all day too. Definite repurchase!

Wei Jujube Age Control Serum
This was from a JolieBox many moons ago, and I have to admit that I haven't actually finished it. It was the richest serum I have ever come across, and left my skin looking and feeling like an oil slick. Considering I know how good serums can be I couldn't bear using it anymore, so it's in the bin.

Weleda One-Step Cleanser and Toner
I'm thinking that I got this from a beauty box, perhaps GlossyBox and this was another one dug out from the depths of my collection. This was the strangest skincare product I've ever used, it smelt like calamine lotion and felt a lot like it too. It was fine to use if I had no make up on but that's about it.

Weleda Avena Shampoo*
There's not much I can say about this product; because the blurb was all in Italian I couldn't figure out what hair type it was meant for or what it's benefits were! I used this up in one go and whilst it smelt nice, it didn't lather up well at all and offered no improvement to my hair whatsoever.

All About Feet Peppermint Soothing Foot Cream*
These sort of creams seem to be commonplace nowadays, and I have to say that there was nothing special about this. It smelt nice and felt lovely and cooling, but I could go to Bodycare and pick up something pretty much identical - nothing would make me seek out this particular one.
