JolieBox July 2012

July 19, 2012

I'm sure you're all aware of the problems JolieBox had last month. The reason that I didn't review June's box was because I didn't receive one; it never showed up, and after seeing what was in the box, I wasn't too bothered about the contents so got a refund. I was more than happy with the customer service from JolieBox, I was offered a replacement box and Abbie was more than apologetic for something that I genuinely don't believe was JolieBox's fault. All that being said, I was looking forward to the July Box and here it is! I had an email today saying it was being delivered, but it wasn't until I got home from work that I saw how quick it was to arrive! JolieBox have said that they changed their delivery service and already it seems to be for the better. Anyway, enough waffling, what did I get in my JolieBox this month?

The first thing that I have to say before I delve into the contents is how impressed I am by the box this month! JolieBox clearly feel bad about last month and have really spoilt us this time around. This is, hand on heart, the best beauty box I have ever received! I know this is a one off, but even without the extra products I would still have been thrilled with this box.

As always, the JolieMag is a pleasure to read and nothing more can really be said on the subject! It includes an article about the Nailgirls salon in London, an interview with a blogger and other interesting beauty product related articles. The theme this month is "Summer Essentials"; beauty products for the summer months come rain (more likely) or shine! There's a fantastic mix of products this month that whilst obviously have summer in mind, could be used just as effectively through the rest of the seasons.

This month's box contains a whopping six beauty samples to dig our teeth into. I don't think a beauty box has ever had this many! These are Etat Pur Pure Active A22-Salicylic Acid 300, two Nailgirls polishes, Wen by Chaz Dean Sweet Almond and Mint Cleansing Conditioner, Jane Iredale Tantasia Self Tanner, JolieBox toe seperators and Taaj Himalaya Micellar Water.

I have to admit that this frightened me a little when I saw the words "Salicylic Acid"; that's some strong stuff! This is a spot treatment and a facial cleanser in one - one drop directly onto a spot or 3-4 drops over the entire face. This is perfect for me at the moment as I have had a few breakouts from trying a new cleanser, so I'm looking forward to giving this a try. I will be reporting the results if this product helps to clear my pesky spots up!

When I saw these nestled in the drawstring bag my mouth literally dropped open. I knew that a nail polish from Nailgirls was in the box from reading the mag beforehand, but I didn't know that there would be two! These are absolutely gorgeous shades in gold and bronze, and I couldn't be happier that I received these two shades. The bronze is stunning, and I was looking for a shade of gold like this to go with a top that I had bought recently; perfect timing again from JolieBox!

I'm currently trying to use up all my conditioners so I initially wasn't thrilled to see this in the box. However this does intrigue me as it claims to contain no detergents or Sodium Laurel Sulfate, but it also says it creates a foaming effect! I've never had a conditioner that foams so I'm now pretty excited to try this. I've not had a sniff yet but the scent sounds quite pleasant and is one I imagine most could get along with. This can be used as a regular, deep or leave-in conditioner and I will be testing it in all three ways.

I got pretty excited when I saw the name Jane Iredale; the last product of theirs to make an appearance was their Lip and Cheek Stain which is an absolute favourite of mine. However in this box is their self tanner, which can be used on the face or the body. This sample is way too small to be used all over the body, so if I use this I'll try using it on my face. I have to admit that I've never used a fake tan in my life and don't intend to start now, however I tested this on the back of my hand and it was very light - but then it is a gradual tanner, so I suppose that is the point!

Onto the extra products with this month's box... and the first is JolieBox's own toe seperators. There's not an awful lot I can say about these really; they're a nice thought and they're always handy to have around! I like the fact that JolieBox include their own branded products and so far they have all been decent quality. These will be added to my nail polish tin and I'm sure I'll use them at some point - if not then my mum definitely will!

Another product that made my mouth drop open - I was so pleased to see this! I believe that this product was included in a previous JolieBox, and it was seeing this and the sample of Macadamia's hair masque in that box that made me sign up to the service. I never thought I would ever see those products again but had high hopes for JolieBox after seeing them included. However, I was still desperate to try this all-amazing water, and now I have a sample of my very own - I can't quite believe it! I will definitely be reviewing this in the future.

I think it's pretty obvious to say that I am very pleased with this month's box; JolieBox have really outdone themselves with this one. They have put a genuine effort into trying to rectify the problems from last month and it shows - not just with the extra products but with their customer service and changing delivery services. Well done JolieBox!

You can sign up to JolieBox via their website, and it costs £12.95 for one box per month.
