On Thursday evening last week, I was given the opportunity to attend a bloggers' event at Oaks Boutique in Roundhay, Leeds. Having never heard of the place before, I was very curious and eager to discover what they had in store for us. To be honest, I was expecting to see lots of items that were aimed at the more mature market and for them to be very expensive; however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was not the case at all - quite the opposite, in fact.

Oaks Boutique sell an incredible amount of fashion items, including clothing, shoes, bags, jewellery and more besides. The items seem to come from all over - I saw a few pieces of clothing that stated that they were made in Italy - and all seemed to be excellent quality for the prices they were being sold for. In store at the moment is their Spring/Summer range, and I was very happy to discover many pastel pink and nude shades being given a rail all to themselves! These are definitely my colours this season, so I had a whale of a time rifling through the rails. I noticed that texture seemed to be key in some of the most popular pieces; everything from brocade to floaty chhiffon fabrics were seen and swooned over by many.

The size of the store, although small, allowed for an impressive range to be displayed and it's one of those places that has something for everyone. The staff were warm and welcoming, and very happy to answer any questions that we had about their items and supply us with enough delicious cupcakes and drinks to feed an army (Well, we sort of were in a way)! One of the ladies demonstrated to a few of us how to wear one of their multi-way dresses, which was fascinating to see - you could literally wear it in about a dozen ways and it was definitely a stand out piece from their collection.

Being the magpie that I am, I was instantly drawn to their jewellery collection, and I found some truly beautiful pieces that I was simply dying to get my hands on. What particularly caught my eye were a couple of body chains that are in the images above (On the mannequin and the gold one with stones). They were completely unique and unlike anything I had ever seen before - I may have to go back and get some in the future! They also had an impressive selection of necklaces, from dainty through to statement and some rings too - one of which I was tempted to buy, but Grace got there first!

Oaks Boutique have challenged us bloggers who were at the event to pick our three favourite items from the range - I'm afraid that my photos do them no justice! First up is the gorgeous, pastel bright cropped jacket; it's not a lie when I say that I fell in love at first sight! The texture of the fabric was just lovely, and the colours are bang on trend - I would probably wear this with some jeans and a white top, and let the jacket do the talking. Second is the Burberry-esque scarf, and I loved this so much that I ended up buying it there and then at the event for just £12. The material is incredibly soft, almost silky and it's quite big too - perfect for wrapping up against the nasty cold weather. Teamed with a classic black or cream coat, you really couldn't go wrong with a scarf like this! Finally, I found this jumper peeping out from the rail. It's a very, very pale pink and the material is quite fine, but what made me love it was the bows at the back. Details like this can make or break a piece, and in this case it definitely makes it. This is such a spring/summer piece for me and it would have a very deserving place in my wardrobe.

As we left the event, the ladies at the store very kindly gave each of us a goody bag to take home, and it contained everything that you see above. I think it's been one of the most generous goody bags I've ever received! The bracelet is my absolute favourite - so dainty and pretty, yet it would have been something that I would have probably overlooked on the shelf.

I had a wonderful time at the event, catching up with some familiar faces, meeting some new ones and finding out more about this lovely little boutique. It turns out that they in fact have several stores across Leeds - including one in Horsforth, which I managed to pass on my way to the event! Now that I know there is one very close to me I will definitely be stopping by in the future to see what else they have in store. They also have a website, www.oaksboutique.com - sadly they are not selling online as of yet, but you can phone them up and they are very happy to take orders over the phone. Thank you, Oaks Boutique, for a lovely event and the amazing goody bag; I will be seeing you again soon!
