Review: SteamCream

September 24, 2012

That's right, you guessed it! This is another product that I received from the Leeds Blogger Meet Up to review for you guys. Having heard about SteamCream being raved about by bloggers all over the world, I was very pleased to find a little sample-sized sachet in the goody bag. An opportunity that was far too good to pass up! Keep on reading to find out what I think.

SteamCream I'm sure for many needs no introduction but for those of you who still have no idea, I am about to explain! SteamCream is an all-in-one moisturiser, advertising its use to be on the face, body and hands. The ingredients are all natural and includes orange flower water, cocoa butter and lavender essential oils - amongst many others. These are all brought together using steam, giving you a lightweight moisturiser that offers long-lasting hydration. Now I'm going to be honest here and say straight away that I don't like this product at all, and there are several reasons why!

First, I'm really not keen on the scent. It smells overly strong of lavender, which I don't mind but I would not want the scent to linger on me all day, which it does with this. Secondly, it leaves a greasy residue on my skin, no matter where I apply it. Even on the driest patches of skin it never seemed to sink in fully, which was a disappointment as that is exactly what it claims to do! I could leave it on overnight like I do with the Papaya Ointment, but on my skin it just feels unbearable - and I think that it is too expensive for it to only be used at night time. I will say two things for it though; it does leave my skin feeling quite moisturised, and I love the many designs that SteamCream have available. But what kills it for me is that it doesn't do anything more for me than any other moisturiser that I could pick up in Boots. Considering how much a tin of this retails for, it really isn't something that I feel is worth spending that kind of money on. Please feel free to comment below if you disagree, I'm sure many of you do but I feel that skincare is very subjective and I think I am one of a few that this product does nothing special for. I am very glad that I received a sample sachet to test rather than a full size tin, because it would've been wasted on me!

Final verdict: In my opinion, this moisturiser is nothing special, and a far better version of an all-natural moisturiser can be found for a lot less.

SteamCream* can be bought from ActiveBeauty for £10.35 inc P+P (75g tin), and is also available to buy in stores such as House of Fraser, Topshop and John Lewis.
